I guess I had one of the more liberal JW moms. My Father also wasn't a JW, so that helped somewhat. High School was alright. I wanted to do *more*, but what she did let me do at least put me in contact with some of the "normal" kids. I was allowed to go to dances, as long as it was with a JW boy. I was allowed to participate in sports, and journalism, which I really enjoyed. I snuck out alot, that's for sure. Probably shouldn't have done that, but you don't think about that stuff when you're a teenager. I wasn't baptized, so it was different in that aspect, too. Our congregation let the teenagers meet once a week to study the Watchtower, and I could get the car and go early and cruise around at the Mall with worldly friends, then go to the study. I also worked at the Mall, and other high school kids would come in there and hang out. I managed, although if I'd been worldly it would have been a lot different, through school to maintain a least a semblance of a normal life.

How did you fare in High School as a JW?
by PaintedToeNail infor me it was rather painful.
it was like pressing your nose against the candy store window, knowing that you can look, but you cannot partake.

"Amish - Out of Order"...Have you watched this show???
by freshstart init comes on the national geographic channel and it's about young people who choose to leave the amish faith/way of life, the backlash from their families, and their adjustment to the "outside" world.
it's fascinating for me to watch.
some of the experiences are unique to amish, but so much of it is similar to what people feel when they decide they no longer want to be witnesses.

I think in California that even in settled sexual abuse cases, plaintiffs cannot be under a Gag Order. IIRC.

Many advices are needed! No prudes are allowed here, please. Thank you!
by asilentone inwell, let me tell you about my experience in dating a married woman about a year ago or so, i was dating a married woman, she did not tell me that she was married, but i found about it and i told her that i know that she is married, then she decided not to see me.
she is really hot.
well recently, i learned that my recent date is actually married, but she is also really hot, should i keep my mouth shut not telling her that i know that she is married, so i can keep the relationship with her, i would not mind because i really like her..

How many "advices" do you need? like 1, 2, 8? I only have a few.. but I'm sure many others could spare a few...
Yep.. ole Tiger Woods was grading on the curves, and now he's kicked to the curb! Lucky for his children they'll get to see him twice a month for two happy, carefree days!
Dude... with all the willing single flesh these days, why tie yourself up with the ones in the 'knot'? Crazazeeee

There's A Ghost At My Place Of Employment
by finallysomepride inok some of you will laugh at this, but it's true, there is a spirit that haunts the premises where i work.. it has spoken to me once when i was locking up, it was 1 single word "hello", i looked around and saw nothing, i ignored it, set the alarm locked the door & went home.
other times i have felt something brush passed me as i have entered the building early in the morning.
the experience that got to me most happened the other nite when i was called back to the store by security, as i pulled into the drive way there was a man standing at the rear of the building, in the split second of looking away he dissapeared, there's no way that he could have run off the property in that split second.. what do you think?.

I have a paranormal team, and am considered pretty skeptical. I don't try to convince people for or against the paranormal, I just try to get what I get, and enjoy the experiences. Why do I do it? Because I am curious about whether such things exist, and whether these investigations will help me learn more about the paranormal. My three male investigators are police officers, one a detective. I prefer to use law enforcement officers as investigators because they are trained in using their objective minds to investigate, gather evidence, and analyze it. We don't use psychics, mediums, or empaths because we prefer to keep that aspect out of our investigations in order that things be level. We use cameras with infrared technology, digital recorders, etc. to gather evidence. We try to strive every investigation to improve our methods so that contamination is minimized.
We constantly read about new methods of using the equipment to its maximum potential, and we are always learning about how shadows, lights, reflections, etc. interact with camera lenses. Most investigations produce NOTHING that we would consider anomalous. We're pretty picky about what we consider anomalous. We try to "debunk" everything that we come across. Sometimes we can't. We don't automatically conclude it's paranormal if we can't debunk it, we just chalk it up to something we don't understand right now. We do field tests for false positives (i.e., testing out different items in the air while taking a flash photo of it to see what it looks like in an investigative setting) and really try to learn all we can in relation to these types of investigations. We don't consider ourselves scientists, nor do we intend what we believe to be paranormal to be accepted by others as paranormal. We're not out to prove anything, except to ourselves.
Some of our clients have been really fantastically credible, upstanding citizens. Some have been nutjobs. We usually take our time interviewing to see if there are any problems with substance abuse, domestic abuse, or psychiatric disorders. We usually won't take a case if our interview reveals any of these issues.
We've had some just really neat experiences, but very few of them after all these eight years of active investigation. I like that people want empirical data, that's the standard that all should strive for. However, in the paranormal investigation business, these things happen just seemingly randomly. I do know that the more I have done this, the more frequent experiences occur.
Anyway, even though I've seen some things, I don't know if it's actually ghosts, but to me: there's something unexplainable.

I'm not sure if anyone's heard of this, but it seems to be rather significant, considering that the Copenhagen Conference is coming up. It seems to be being downplayed in the news media, but being touted as the most significant scientific scandal in history. "Climategate" as it's been named allegedly involves a collusion of scientists who have altered true data over the past decade or so to show that global warming is caused by man. The emails, documents and letters were obtained by someone who hacked into a climatology research lab and released them on the Internet. I dunno.. you decide:

Out about twenty-five years. Was in since 3. Thunderstorms still have me with that thought in the back of my mind that the big A is here. I still wake up screaming with nightmares that are comprised of a lot of the elements found in the old orange Paradise book. I've been murdered in my dreams by those come to persecute more ways than you can count. I don't think it ever ends... just less frequent maybe.

Welcome, Paul. I understand exactly where you're coming from. The fear of Armageddon was ingrained into my psyche from my earliest childhood. When I was "bad", my parents told me if I didn't behave I would be destroyed at Armageddon. I grew up with a very real deep-seated fear of it. I was mortified by the picture of terrified faces falling into a crack in the ground from the orange Paradise book.
When I decided to leave, I simply told myself that if Armageddon is really coming, then I guess I'll just die in it. Simple as that. Fear gone. I was not going to raise my children that way ......que sera sera.
Totally understand, bro! I remember those horrifying images.. and I can tell you now, after 25 or more years out, that I still get that little voice in the back of my head during a thunderstorm: Armagheddon? and feel a bit of the anxiety well up. Even after all these years. It does get better, but you never really forget!
